As the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to grip the world, and the solutions have become clearer, people have taken certain steps to make the most of the situation. One of these steps is how to adjust masks to help most people. What are the inventions that have come out for facemasks that help contain the spread of the virus?

One of these inventions is called the Virustatic Shield, using a unique coating that is specifically made to repel virus particles. This antiviral covering has the benefit of being light and breathable while also delivering the sort of protection that is so desperately needed. Tested by scientists, this is one of the prime examples of facemask inventions to come out of this pandemic.

Then some inventions attempt to keep life somewhat normal during the pandemic. A company in Israel has come up with a mask that allows the user to eat without taking the mask off by simply squeezing a lever. The effectiveness is debatable so far, but it certainly gets points for the innovation.

Another product from Israel, the researchers from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, developed a self-purifying and reusable mask. The technology uses an inner layer of carbon fibers spread within the mask while it is heated from a nearby power source (USB connection, phone charger, etc.). While not in production yet, it seems like a promising avenue for new masks.

The demand for masks will continue to be around for as long as this virus is. As long as that demand is around, the inventions and innovations of masks will follow.
