Rap is the biggest genre of music in 2020. It continues to expand its influence into other genres and has some of the biggest names in the music industry.
The genre has continued to take the stage this year, with artists like 21 Savage
and Tyler, The Creator both winning Grammys for the album IGOR and the song “a lot,” respectively.
Eminem also reappeared on the scene when he dropped his 11th studio album, Music To Be Murdered By, completely unannounced.
The move turned out to be a good one for the Real Slim Shady, as he became the first artist ever to have ten consecutive albums debuting at number one on the Billboard 200.
This success follows the increasing impact of the genre on society as a whole. Lil Nas X continues to be one of the most popular rap artists, following his 2018 country-rap hit “Old Town Road.”
His single “Panini” even earned him a Grammy nomination.
Lil Wayne also debuted his album Funeral at number 1 on the Billboard 200.
Lil Yachty
Future
and Wiz Khalifa have all dropped albums this year, reaching the top 50.
Rap fans can look forward to albums from some of the biggest artists in the genre right now. Cardi B,
Frank Ocean
Kendrick Lamar
Drake
G-Easy and many others are still expected to drop albums this year.
Even 6ix9ine plans to release one after his release from prison.
Rap is a giant that keeps on growing, especially in 2020.
